New joint programs between Italian Universities and Durres University

Three joint programs and double degrees with the most prestigious universities in Europe have been opened at the Aleksandar Moisiu University in Durres. This was announced by the Minister of Education and Sport, Ogerta Manastirliu, at the meeting organized today near the University of Durres.

“Today, the work of the honorable professors and the very close cooperation with the departments of three universities, among the most prestigious in Europe, such as the Universities of “La Sapienza”, “Tor Vergata” and the University of Genoa, is crowned to open 3 study cycles of joint double degree programs. Albanian students now have the opportunity to find the same quality of teaching, programs and modules in their own country. Academic staff will undoubtedly benefit as well. We want to bring Europe here. Our goal is the internationalization of universities, the expansion of joint programs and degrees with prestigious universities across the world, aiming to make our universities internationally recognized and, of course, the University “Aleksandër Moisiu” is the one that carries the flag in this direction”, said the Minister, among others.

The three programs with the University “Aleksandër Moisiu”, Durrës and the Universities “La Sapienza”, “Tor Vergata” and the University of Genoa, will offer studies in Public Law, European Studies and International and Diplomatic Science. These programs will be conducted in Albanian, Italian and English and will offer a double degree.

The joint program of Doctorate studies in “Public Law” with “Tor Vergata” University, Italy, the joint program of Master studies in “European and Comparative Law” with “Sapienza” University, Italy, which has already started and has 15 students, as well as the Bachelor studies program in “International and Diplomatic Sciences” with the University of Genoa, Italy, implemented for the first time with 14 students.

“Aleksandër Mosiu” University has a rich academic offer, with 112 study programs organized in 5 faculties, of which 8 are joint programs with a double degree, in 3 study cycles (Albanian, Italian and English) and 7 programs in English, in 2 study cycles.

The ceremony took place in the new Laboratory of European Studies EU-LAB, a financing of the Albanian Government, which, according to Minister Manastriliu, will serve doctoral students and students to have the opportunity to use online and physical literature, online seminars and lectures and statistical programs.

Minister Manastirliu once again emphasized the commitment to support the universities’ internationalization and that the 2024 budget supports universities for academic infrastructure and scientific research, increasing funding for universities to bring a new level of higher education.
